Like Abraham to his faithful serf
I said to mine eyes; 'Find me a wife'
Cast thy beams upon the earth
Nay! Not the earth but within Christ
for I desire no Canaan girl.
Swear by my thigh this holy day
a virtuous lady you will find
whose steps and utterances emits grace.
Favor is found amongst her kind
for she is one who loves to pray.
Look not upon those Jezebels
their luscious lips would not suffice
for therein lies the tempter's snare.
Their foreign ways would quench thy light.
Do not succumb, though they be bare.
And if perhaps during your quest
you find within a shred of doubt
of your resolve towards this test
seek counsel only from the mouth
of God who giveth of the best
