I saw her last night in the rain with her baby on her back;
The coat she had on her was vain for of holes it had no lack.
You find her roaming everyday with her baby through the park.
I cannot now recall her name, So for now; 'The Girl In Black'.
I have heard her tale before; born into a world of fame.
Her father desired a boy but a girl he got that day
And since that day he'd haul upon her ears his pain,
'If only you're a boy, then you could retain my name'.
But daddy's deep cuts wouldn't last for 'a love' quenched all her pain:
A boy whose soothing words would cast all her worries down the drain
then he'd have her in the night for a naive girl he'd tamed
but when she is found with child he was never seen again.
Her father's rant were cold mother wept by the frame
'Get out of here!' he roared 'you do not deserve my name!'.
It's been three years now I'm told since she left her home in shame
left to languish in the cold. Still I can't recall her name.
Now I'm told she died today she was found without her head;
Cruel men descent of Cain took from her all she had left.
To find the baby, all had failed, many fear that he is dead.
I still cannot recall her name but alas how would it help?
