God saw.
Our world had burned out,
Our light had gone out.
Darkness reigned
And we were reined.
God spoke.
And then the light came;
We little candles took flame.
In our core, He ignited the spark,
And with confidence, thrust us in the dark.
We feared.
The dark was windy and cold,
We dreaded things that might unfold.
We seemed overwhelmed as we tried.
God wouldn't aid us, though we cried.
God heard.
And sent us a message.
"I'm with you through the age".
The voice faded, weak and distant, The cold dark, more near and instant.
We chose.
Some hearkened and were revived.
He made them brighter and they thrived.
Others spurned Him and conformed:
The candles saw darkness and transformed.
We see.
Our world, black but with hope.
And a promise: we can cope.
Those who don’t see this mock us, They can’t see God's light within us...
Join us.
The world is dark, so it seems,
But we know our God; we shed his beams.
He promises a nightless day,
So we trust in Him, come what may.
