I have a question
So my brows frown and almost meet,
I look around and tap my feet,
My chin takes my upright hand as its seat.
I have a question
My mind works double time,
It sees a change in its state and clime,
Weighing options: which one is prime?
I have a question
I recognize the need for guidance,
The opposites in my head are in a dance,
I listen to the answers, all the while askance.
I have the answer
But it is not pleasant to my ears,
Different from what I heard over the years,
Different from all my teachers' ideas.
I have the answer
But it cannot possibly be true,
It differs from opinion of the scholars, who I knew,
Though the logic is valid, the information is new.
I have the answer
But how can I renounce?
It is tradition, I cannot denounce
And so its veracity, I will not pronounce...
